For solicitors

Anglia Research has been working closely with the legal profession for over 25 years and has a success rate of over 95%.

With even the smallest amount of information, our highly trained staff can piece together the most complex family tree. Our specialist team is strengthened by our global network of more than 200 research agents to help trace missing beneficiaries or next-of-kin worldwide. It’s no exaggeration to say that we ‘reach the parts that others don’t reach’!

We carry out research in many different ways, depending on the nature of the case. Our own in-house library contains vast collections of relevant, and in some cases, unique research data which has been accquired over many years. In addition to our library, we have invested in the latest custom-built databases to ensure that that we can provide a cost-effective and efficient solution to any genealogical problem.

The world of probate produces many unusual and sometimes unique situations. Enquirers are welcome to contact us concerning any problem and we will endeavour to reply quickly with a no-obligation in-depth assessment.

Additionally, as a goodwill gesture we will often freely ‘tidy up’ a small low-value aspect of an estate; or we will give assistance in obtaining some of the lesser-known Grants, e.g. Ad Colligenda Bona

Our research findings are supported by fully documented family trees, which are presented in an easily understandable and attractive format.

Our Fee Structure

Our fee structures are transparent and flexible and, as a matter of principle, we never incur additional charges without clearing this with clients in advance. Generally, we agree either a ‘Fixed Fee’ or a ‘Contingency Basis’ approach.

Fixed Fee

We agree a budget with you before we commence our research.  The research is then billed at our hourly rate, plus disbursements. This method is ideal in cases of partial intestacy and known missing heirs, where it is often possible to authorise expenditure from the estate.

Contingency Basis

This means that we will underwrite the entire cost of researching the case. Our fees are paid by the beneficiaries whom we locate in the form of a percentage agreement. This option is ideal in cases of total intestacy where no-one has authority over the estate, or when Executors or Administrators do not wish to risk their own money in funding research.

Missing Beneficiary Indemnity Insurance

Occasionally, despite everyone’s best efforts, it is possible that a relative simply cannot be traced. In other situations, it may not be financially viable to continue research into a particular branch of a family.

There are also many other situations that may affect the distribution of an estate, such as illegitimacies and overseas births and marriages or family secrets that have never been mentioned.

In order to address these possible scenarios, Anglia Research has developed a partnership with one of the country’s leading insurers.  Our forensic reports and conclusions are readily accepted by the insurers who then incept cost-effective indemnity insurance so that an estate can be distributed with total peace of mind.

Document Search

Should you need to prove that a life event actually took place, it can often be necessary to obtain the formal certificate documenting the fact.  Rather than rely on hearsay or ‘family legend,’ we can provide the actual certificate quickly and efficiently.  For instance, we can locate:
