Niamh White

Niamh studied a BSc in Sociology at the University of Canterbury and then went on to complete a MSc in Internal Relations and Politics. While she’s new to the field of genealogy, she’s already loving it.

She started working for Anglia Research in the summer of 2025, and since then, she’s been really enjoying investigating family histories and talking to all the wonderful individuals behind the stories. She’s passionate about helping people uncover their own history and finds it interesting how every family tree is unique.

She’s excited to learn and grow in this field and welcomes new research challenges.

 

I’m new to the field of genealogy, but what attracted me to this industry was the opportunity to combine my background in sociological and political research with something more immediate and personal. I love how genealogy connects you to real stories and people from the past and present.

I’d say my job is like being a family history detective. I help people uncover their roots by gathering information from census records and the like, assembling puzzle pieces, and creating a full picture of their family tree. It allows us to help people understand where they come from and also bring their past to life.
